🚨 Court Documents Reveal Details in Disappearance of Lilly and Jack Sullivan – Missing Since May 2 2025
Newly released court records in the case of missing siblings Lilly Sullivan (6) and Jack Sullivan (5) from Lansdowne, Nova Scotia, provide additional context on the relationship between their mother Malehya Brooks-Murray and stepfather Daniel Martell in the lead-up to the children’s disappearance on May 2, 2025.
The children were reported missing after Brooks-Murray called 911 claiming they had wandered away from their rural home. The disappearance triggered a large-scale grid search of the surrounding dense woods, yielding only a pink blanket and a child-sized boot print.
Over the past eight months, authorities have deployed cadaver dogs, conducted 75 interviews, performed polygraph examinations, reviewed 1,066 tips and 8,000 video files, and involved RCMP units from multiple provinces. The case remains under the provincial Missing Persons Act and has not yet been classified as criminal.
Court documents detail an interview with Brooks-Murray in which she describes moving in with Martell on his mother’s property in August 2023. When asked about physical abuse, she reportedly said Martell would block her, hold her down, once pushed her, and take her phone when she tried to call her mother, sometimes causing physical harm. Martell, in his interview, acknowledged recent arguments about money but described the relationship as “good” overall, with yelling but no physical violence.
The children’s biological father, Cody Sullivan, had not seen them in several years but paid child support until losing his job nine months before the disappearance.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Rob McCamon confirmed the relationship dynamics are part of the investigation but declined to label anyone a suspect at this time, stating police are still gathering evidence. Criminology professor Michael Arntfield noted the language in Crown submissions carefully leaves room for potential criminality as the investigation continues.
Police are using advanced technology, including drones and video analysis, to support the ongoing probe. The family, including Brooks-Murray and Martell’s baby daughter, were last seen publicly the day before the disappearance.
