The Gatineau Police Service announced Friday that it had ended the active search for Jonathan Blanchette, a University of Ottawa student who went missing on Feb. 6.
A ground team of Gatineau police was deployed in the search for Blanchette, 32, while a canine unit and divers from the Sûreté du Québec were also called in, the latter searching the Blanche River.
Police added that, although their field search had ended, the investigation remained active. A Gatineau resident, Blanchette is Caucasian, standing 6-1 with an athletic build, short black hair, brown eyes and a black beard. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a black winter coat, grey sweater, black snow pants, a black and white toque and hood, and black Sorel winter boots.
