A fundraiser has been launched for the family of a Chilliwack father who died in a crash.
William (Will) Joseph Welch, 43, was driving to Clinton, B.C. on Thanksgiving weekend and was reported missing on Oct. 14. Chilliwack RCMP confirmed his body was found on Oct. 16 in the Clinton area, and that no foul play was suspected.
Natalie Giesler, who started a GoFundMe, called him a “dedicated” father to sons 18-year-old Jaden and 16-year-old Logan.
“His loss leaves a profound void in the lives of his children and all of us who knew him. Will was a loving father who devoted his life to providing for and mentoring his boys,” she wrote on Oct. 17.
“He always put his family first, and his absence will be felt deeply. As the family navigates this unimaginable loss, we want to ensure that Logan and Jaden have the support they need during this difficult time.”
Funds raised through the campaign will help cover the private search-and-rescue costs, funeral expenses, and will go to support his two sons.
“Our goal is to give them some stability as they grieve and adjust to life without their father,” Giesler wrote.
