Today more volunteer searchers will be scouring the banks of the Grand River and Belwood Lake, looking for any signs of Kaden Young. There is a Facebook page set-up to relay information to the public and to coordinate volunteer searchers. Moderators ask that if you want to join the search, VISIT the page and mark yourself as ‘going’. Police have said they may re-evaluate today’s search, depending on the weather. Snow was forecast last night but did not materialize into any significant accumulation.
It has now been 10 days since Kaden went missing in the Grand River in Waldemar. February 21, around 1:00am his mother’s van was swept into the Grand River during intense fog and flooding. The mother managed to escape the van with Kaden but she lost grip of him in the rushing water.
A fundraiser is being held this weekend to raise funds for the family. A silent auction will take place on Sunday from 10am-5pm at the Grand Valley Community Centre.
