🚨 Missing Girl in Pauingassi, Manitoba – Betsy Rosa Owens, 15 – Last Seen October 23, 1988
Betsy Rosa Owens was just 15 years old when she disappeared from Pauingassi First Nation, Manitoba, in October 1988. More than three decades later, her whereabouts remain unknown, and her case is still classified as an endangered missing person investigation.
On the evening of October 22, 1988, Betsy spent time playing volleyball with friends at the local school before attending a community dance with her boyfriend. The couple left the dance around 11:00 p.m., and Betsy stayed overnight at his residence.
Betsy was last seen the following morning when she left his home. Despite immediate searches by community members and later efforts by law enforcement in 1996 and 1997, no trace of Betsy was ever found.
Over the years, rumours have circulated in the community, and investigators have stated that foul play is suspected, but there has never been enough evidence to make any arrests. In 2013, Betsy’s sister provided DNA to investigators in case remains are ever located.
Betsy’s disappearance was featured nationally in 2019 during Canada’s Missing Children campaign. Her parents have since passed away, and as of the most recent updates, the family has not been informed of any new leads.
