On February 10, 2022, the remains of a deceased male were located in a rural area near Hague. Police have been able to confirm that the remains are those of Byron Bear, who was reported missing to Prince Albert Police Service in December 2021.

An autopsy of Byron Bear was scheduled for Monday, February 14, 2022.

Byron Bear was originally reported missing by his family on December 7, 2021 and thought to be involved in a serious assault that occurred in the early morning hours of December 6, 2021 in the 300 Block of 9th Street East.

The Prince Albert Police Service has arrested two men in connection with the murder of Byron Bear. Raine Farrow, 23, and Kyle Burns, 37, are charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Byron Bear. Both made their first court appearances in Prince Albert Provincial Court last week.

Prince Albert Police Service would like to thank the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their Forensic Identification Section, Major Crime Unit, Search and Rescue Unit, and K9 Services, for their significant assistance in this investigation.

The Prince Albert Police Service Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.
