An investigation by Gatineau police is continuing following the discovery of a body in the Ottawa River near Jacques Cartier Park on Saturday afternoon.
An officer said the body was found in the early afternoon by a woman.
Officers arriving on the scene set up crime scene tape and questioned the person who found the body.
That person wasn’t arrested.
The body was removed at about 4 p.m.
“The body had been in the water for quite some time,” the officer said, adding there were no obvious signs of foul play.
“There is much more investigation to be done.”
Jacques Cartier Park is near the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge that connects Ottawa and Gatineau.
