A missing woman, who police said was taken against her will and believed to have been forced into a vehicle, has been found safe.

Mounties got a report that 25-year-old Veronica Walker was taken against her will on Monday from a home on Kichemaskanow Street in Chemawawin Cree Nation.

RCMP said it is believed she was taken by Warren George, 39, who is known to Walker.

Investigators believe George forced Walker into a 2022 Black Dodge Durango with Manitoba licence plate KAU 376, and that the two may be in Winnipeg.

On Wednesday evening, RCMP said it had an arrest warrant for George on charges of breaking and entering, kidnapping and assault. The charges have not been proven in court.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., RCMP said George had been arrested by Winnipeg police and remains in custody.

On Thursday morning, police said Walker had been found safe.

Previous Update:

The search continues for a missing woman believed to have been kidnapped from a First Nation in central Manitoba earlier this week, after the suspected kidnapper was later arrested by Winnipeg police.

Veronica Walker, 25, of Chemawawin Cree Nation was reported missing to RCMP on Tuesday, a Wednesday news release says. The First Nation community is located in Easterville, Man., about 400 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.

Walker is believed to have been taken against her will from a Kichemaskanow Street residence in the community at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, the release says.

RCMP say Warren George, 39, is known to Walker and is believed to have forced her into a 2022 Black Dodge Durango early Monday.

He was arrested by police in Winnipeg, RCMP announced on Wednesday evening. An arrest warrant for George had been issued for charges involving assault, kidnapping as well as breaking and entering.

RCMP say Walker remains missing. She is described as five feet, four inches tall, weighing 145 lbs with black hair and brown eyes.

Police and Walker’s family are worried for her safety and seek the public’s help to find her, RCMP previously said.
