The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a male who was reported missing in central Edmonton earlier this week.
On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m., police and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) responded to the report of a lone dog on the ice of the North Saskatchewan River by Government House Park in central Edmonton. Before the dog was found alone, it was reported that a male was observed walking along the riverbank in the area with the animal.
Upon arrival, police located an empty vehicle in a nearby parking lot that is believed to belong to the missing male. Police believe that while he was trying to secure his dog, the male may have fallen through the ice of the North Saskatchewan River and are asking the public for any information that may assist them with their investigation.
Seyem Gaim, 31, is described as 5’8”, 150 lbs. and has a medium build. Seyem is described as having a bald head with a longer beard and was last seen wearing jeans, a grey and white jacket, a backwards grey ballcap with a black rim and dark shoes, as pictured in the second photo below. Police have been unable to confirm his whereabouts using traditional methods. As such, the EPS Missing Persons Unit has taken over the investigation and is issuing a photo with the hope that he can be located.
“As we continue to actively search for Mr. Gaim, we are hopeful that a member of the public might have seen him throughout the community or at Government House Park on Wednesday,” says Cst. Cassandra Grant with the EPS’ West Division. “Anyone with information about Mr. Giam’s time in these areas is asked to contact us immediately.”
“The return of winter conditions are particularly challenging throughout all parts of the city. As we all wait for the warm weather to come back, we would like to remind all Edmontonians to remain vigilant, whether it’s on our roads or around our waterways.”
Anyone with information about Seyem Gaim’s location is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
