🚨 12-Year-Old Boy Stops Potential Abduction – Guelph, Ontario (2025)

In a moment of bravery and quick thinking, 12-year-old Asher Haile stepped up to protect another child in Guelph, Ontario — an act that has now earned him the 2025 Junior Citizen Award from the Guelph Police Service.

While waiting for his school bus one morning, Asher witnessed a stranger attempting to lure a young child into their vehicle. Recognizing the danger, Asher intervened immediately, preventing the child from getting in the car and later contacting the police.

According to a news release from the Guelph Police Service, Asher’s quick actions helped avert a potentially serious crime. “Asher’s actions exemplify the spirit of this award. He demonstrated remarkable presence of mind and prevented a potentially serious crime,” the release said. “His courage makes our community a safer place.”

Asher’s initiative and bravery serve as an inspiring reminder that youth can make a meaningful impact on public safety. His efforts contributed to keeping Guelph a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.

The Junior Citizen Award has been presented annually since 2006 to individuals under 18 who have positively contributed in police-related incidents. Award nominees are selected by Guelph police officers.

🚨 Un garçon de 12 ans empêche un enlèvement possible – Guelph, Ontario (2025)

Grâce à son courage et à sa rapidité d’esprit, Asher Haile, 12 ans, a protégé un autre enfant à Guelph, en Ontario — un acte héroïque qui lui a valu le Prix du jeune citoyen 2025 décerné par le service de police de Guelph.

Alors qu’il attendait son autobus scolaire, Asher a aperçu un inconnu tentant de convaincre un jeune enfant de monter dans son véhicule. Conscient du danger, Asher est immédiatement intervenu, empêchant l’enfant d’y monter, puis a alerté la police.

Dans un communiqué, la police de Guelph a souligné l’importance de son geste. « Les actions d’Asher incarnent l’esprit de ce prix. Il a fait preuve d’un grand sang-froid et a empêché un crime potentiellement grave », indique le communiqué. « Son courage contribue à rendre notre communauté plus sécuritaire. »

Le geste d’Asher rappelle puissamment que les jeunes peuvent avoir un impact réel sur la sécurité publique. Son intervention a renforcé la sécurité à Guelph pour tous ses citoyens.

Le Prix du jeune citoyen est remis chaque année depuis 2006 à des personnes de moins de 18 ans qui se sont distinguées de manière positive dans des situations liées à la police. Les candidats sont proposés par des agents du service de police de Guelph.
