Update: The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan Police have identified the deceased female found on October 2, 2022

Update:

The Prince Albert Police Service can confirm that a 36-year-old woman has been identified as the deceased female located inside a burned vehicle on Sunday morning in the 1200 Block of 17th Street West. Her identity was confirmed following the completion of an autopsy on Wednesday.

The public was instrumental in assisting police and we would like to once again thank residents for their quick response in this investigation.

Members with the Criminal Investigation Division of the Prince Albert Police Service and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate.

On October 2, 2022 just before 9 a.m., the Prince Albert Police Service attended to the 1200 Block of 17th Street West along with the Prince Albert Fire Department for a report of a vehicle on fire. On arrival, the vehicle involved was fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was extinguished, police located a deceased female inside the vehicle.

Investigators are presently attempting to identify the deceased female, who is described as being approximately 5’1” tall and approximately 100 pounds. The deceased was located wearing distinctive pink high-top Nike Flight shoes and maroon-coloured leggings from Lululemon. A photo of shoes similar to the ones the female was wearing is attached.

The Prince Albert Police Service has not had any reports involving a female matching the description of the person located inside the vehicle and is asking for the public’s help with this investigation. Investigators are anxious to identify the deceased and locate her loved ones.

If you have information about a female matching the above description, or any information relating to this incident, please contact police immediately by calling 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The Prince Albert Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate along with the Office of the Chief Coroner. Investigators will remain in the area for the remainder of the day Sunday and possibly into Monday.
