On April 15, 2019, shortly before 2:00 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Temiskaming Detachment were notified of found human remains in Coleman Township, South East of the Town of Cobalt, Ontario.
A post mortem was conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) earlier today in Ottawa, Ont. The human remains have been identified as those of Nicholas Rivard, 21 years old, of Haileybury, Ont.
The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Kurtis Fredericks, OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
The OPP would also like to thank members of the public who assisted during this investigation.

Police are looking to the public to help find a missing person.
On March 27, 2019, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a missing person. OPP is currently searching for 21-year-old Nicholas RIVARD who was last seen on March 24, 2019 in the Town of Cobalt, Ontario.
He is described as being around six foot tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds. He has brown eyes, and medium length, wavy black hair.
Police and family are concerned for his well-being and are requesting the public’s assistance to help locate him.
