The RCMP has located the body of a 64-year-old man, who was reported missing from East Kemptville on February 11.
The missing man had not been seen since February 5, and was reported missing on February 11. He was known to walk and hike extensively in the area. Yarmouth Rural RCMP was assisted by local volunteer Ground Search and Rescue, and RCMP Air Services and Underwater Recovery Team (URT). Searchers checked the lake and shoreline near the missing man’s home until February 13 with negative results.
The remains were located today in Beaverhouse Lake by the RCMP URT. Divers were assisted by the New Minas Volunteer Fire Department in the retrieval of the remains. The department has a hovercraft which was instrumental in getting members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team to the location to retrieve the deceased man. The RCMP would also like to acknowledge the assistance provided by community members.

The Yarmouth Rural RCMP have been searching for a man missing from East Kemptville, Yarmouth County, who was reported missing on Feb. 11. Search efforts thus far have failed to locate the man.
Dieter “Frank” Winter, 64, of Brandee’s Lane has not been seen since Feb. 5. He was reported missing on Feb. 11. He is known to walk and hike extensively in the area.
After the missing person report was made to the RCMP, local volunteer Ground Search and Rescue personnel were called out to assist, and RCMP Air Services was also called. Searches took place last week.
The lake and shoreline near Winter’s home was searched with negative results. On Feb. 12, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team assisted in the search and were not able to dive due to ice conditions on the lake. The ground search continued through Feb. 13 with negative results.
The RCMP issued a media release on Feb. 18 seeking the public’s help in locating the man’s whereabouts. The man’s name had not been disclosed earlier while the search was underway because family members living outside of the country had yet to be located or/and contacted.
