Ontario Provincial Police confirmed on Wednesday night that the body of a missing Loyalist Township woman was located on her property.
Maria (Tiny) DeWagner, 56, was reported missing last Thursday when she was last heard from. Since then, an extensive search has been underway at her property on County Road 4 to locate her.
Members of the Napanee OPP Crime Unit and Regional Support Team, along with members from the Emergency Response Team, canine unit, aviation services and the OPPs Unmanned Aerial System have been conducting searches of DeWagner’s property, under the direction of Det.-Insp. Jim Gorry of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
On Wednesday at approximately 3:45 p.m., DeWagner was located deceased on her property. Police are not searching for any suspects and there are not any public safety issues, OPP said in a news release late Wednesday night.
The coroner attended the scene and a post-mortem examination has been scheduled for Thursday at Kingston General Hospital.
DeWagner lost her mother, Maria Meyering, a local horse trainer of Wilmarny Farm, on April 1.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking the public for assistance in locating Maria E DeWagner (Meyering). Maria was last seen at her residence in Loyalist Township on April 13 at 2 p.m. Her last communication was by text to a friend on April 13, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. Friends and police are concerned for well being as this is not usual behaviour for her.
Maria is described as 5’4″ tall, weighing approximately 250lbs with blue eyes and grey hair. Last seen wearing blue jeans, hiking boots, grey shirt and sterling silver horse necklace.
